Training
Nigeria is one of the countries in the world with very high number of unemployed youths. Employers believe it is because the youth labour force lacks employment skills. Our view at Dr Nonso Nnamoko Foundation is that the skill gap is a result of inadequate use of youth labour force. We believe that employers have conspicuously neglected alternative employment schemes such as apprenticeship. It is believed that apprenticeship is one of the major functional prerequisites for employment skill generation. This employment route is not only beneficial to activate the role of youths; it also comes at low investment cost to employers.
We want to harness these benefits to provide training opportunities and ultimately tackle the unemployment surge among youths in Nigeria. Our plan is to organise skill acquisition training programmes within the confines of apprenticeship to afford youths a means to be relevant along the line of professions, such as fashion designing, furniture making, catering, baking and other related endeavors.
