Strategy

Our current funding strategy was launched in January 2017. It is built around four strategic priorities, where we want to see change over the coming years:

We want to support intelligent young people from poor families in education
We want to widen access and participation in vocational training for young people
We want to support and improve people's education and learning through technology
We want to invest in activities that engage young people and encourage them to make positive life choices

Our areas of interest are highlighted below and detailed information can be found in the "Our Work in Nigeria" section of our website.

Education

Most of our open grants in the area of education are focused on young people at Secondary school level. These individual grants are primarily dedicated to supporting tuition fees and National Examination registration such as WAEC, NECO, GCE and JAMB. Applicants are encouraged to look through the relevant pages within "Our Work in Nigeria" for advise on eligibility and how to make application.

Dr Nonso Nnamoko Foundation is also keen to improve access to high quality education and funds a number of targeted programmes to help schools in rural areas. These programmes may include textbook and stationary supplies. Application to such programme is strictly on invitation, thus not open to the public.

Training

Our work in this area is focused on young people aged between 15 and 24 who can demonstrate evidence of hard work and entrepreneurship. The bulk of our individual grants in this area are paid as salary; although some may be paid as lump sum to the grantee upon successful completion of their training. We want to work with local employers to create training opportunities for young people. Applicants are encouraged to look through the relevant pages within "Our Work in Nigeria" for advise on eligibility and how to make application.

Dr Nonso Nnamoko Foundation is also keen to create more opportunities through our own establishments. Our technology strategy includes an ambitious investment plan to build a technology hub that would serve as a source of income to the foundation but also used to service some of our funding schemes under education, training and youth engagement strategies.

Technology

Our work in this area is focused on empowering young people through technology. We want to offer them opportunities to learn vital skills through our ambitious technology project. We do not have plans for individual applications under this strategy. Rather, we want to deliver programmes through our own Technology Hub, to groups of young people who are interested in learning technical skills in computing. We want to work with the Nigerian Government and other organisations to make this a success. We encourage those who are interested in this area to bookmark our news page and follow us on social media in order to receive up-to-date information.

Youth engagement

Our work in this area is focused on young people aged between 15 and 24, particularly those in rural areas where youths are often disenfranchised. We do not provide individual grants under this strategy. Our work is mainly to organise engaging events for the youths in partnership with organisations within the local community such as schools, businesses, churches etc. We encourage such organization(s) to look through the relevant pages within "Our Work in Nigeria" to see where we can work together.

We are also want to create engaging opportunities for youths through our ambitious technology strategy would serve as income generator for the foundation as well as a platform to kindle curiosity and a thirst for change/problem solving in the minds of disengaged youths.
