Our Vision
We envision a world where all young people - even in the most remote areas of the world - can afford basic education and training in order to create opportunity for themselves and their community. It is this vision that drives our effort to implement sustainable funding programs that improves access to education, training and services that empower young people.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help young people overcome disadvantage and lack of opportunity. In particular, we want to end the social inequality crisis in Nigeria by ensuring that every young person has access to one of life’s most basic need — education.
Our Values
Social justice is the golden thread that links all our work. Our enduring values draw on the beliefs and instincts of our founder, Dr Nonso Nnamoko, who believes that every person should have the opportunity to achieve his/her fullest potential and contribute to all aspects of life. He is particularly interested in improving opportunities and life chances for the less privileged. We hope, therefore, that our work will help to improve and enrich the lives of those who are experiencing disadvantage or are in some way excluded. We seek to reflect these values throughout the areas of activity we support and the ways in which we work.
How we work
Our guiding principles are clear and simple. We believe that it is often more effective to work with other organisations, as well as those individuals we support. Accordingly, we welcome partnerships – with other funders, government and business, as well as our grantees – and aim to build communities of interest around the activities we support.
We strive to be open in our grant-making and relationships. We endeavour to operate a straightforward, transparent process for those seeking support from us. To make our funding approaches easier to understand and better suited to what applicants are seeking, our funding will fall into four strategic priorities – Education, Training, Technology and Youth engagement. We welcome feedback and will respond if our approaches to funding are undermining the quality of the relationships we wish to create.
We want to make sure our work benefits communities throughout Nigeria, particularly areas that are least connected or least able to access resources. Because of this, we actively seek to support people in rural areas.
We want to give people greater control over the decisions that shape their lives. We want to help people, especially those experiencing disadvantage, to find their voices, speak out and be heard; particularly by those who make policy or provide services.
